Country Energy

In NSW, Country Energy provides the following concessions. These are funded by the NSW Government:


Concession Type Eligibility
NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate
  • The NSW Government offers the Low Income Household Rebate of $200 per year from 1 July 2011 to cover electricity and gas accounts. This rebate is only payable on the principal place of residence.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item. You must be listed as the current electricity account holder to be eligible.

  • Pensioner Concession Card issued by either Centrelink or the DVA.
  • Gold Card issued by the DVA marked with either:
    • War Widow or War Widower Pension
    • Totally and Permanently Incapacitated (TPI)
    • Disability Pension.
  • Health Care Card issued by Centrelink as a result of receiving one of a number of income support payments from the Commonwealth.
Life Support
  • To be used on the principal place of residence only, the NSW Government offers life support rebates to eligible customers.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item.
  • Please note - spouses, dependants and relatives who normally reside at the service are also able to claim the rebate via the account holder. The account holder must apply for the rebate and provide a doctors certificate confirming the use of the equipment at the premises.

Medical Energy Rebate
  • The Medical Energy Rebate is for eligible customers who are medically diagnosed with thermoregulatory dysfunction. The rebate is a flat rate amount of $200 per year from 1 July 2011.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item.
  • Please note – The account holder or anyone residing at the residence is eligible for the rebate provided they are diagnosed with thermoregulatory dysfunction. This requires a signed form by a medical practitioner and the account holder must have one of the listed eligible cards.
  • Thermoregulatory dysfunction is associated with certain conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
    An applicant must meet at least one of the primary and one of the secondary qualifying conditions to claim the rebate.

The account holder must have one of the following concession cards:
  • Pensioner Concession Card issued by either Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA);
  • Gold Card issued by the DVA;
  • Health Care Card issued by Centrelink as a result of receiving one of a number of income support payments from the Commonwealth.
Caravan Park Rebate
  • Funded by NSW Government, an energy rebate of $159.50 per year is available for pension card holders to cover electricity and gas accounts for customers residing in a caravan park on a long term basis. This rebate is only payable on the principal place of residence.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will be paid into your nominated financial institution every two months.

  • Centrelink Pension Card.
  • All Centrelink Health Care Cards (excludes Commonwealth Seniors Health Card).
    Please note for Health Care Cards (CD) – Carer for child under 16 with a disability: The energy account must be in the name of the child’s Carer listed with Centrelink. The Carers Centrelink reference number must also be provided.
  • Department of Veterans' Affairs Pension Card.
  • Department of Veterans' Affairs Pension for War Widows or War Widowers or a Disability Pension at the "totally and permanently incapacitated"(TPI) or "extreme disablement adjustment" (EDA) rates (as shown on the Repatriation Health Card i.e. the "Gold Card").
Caravan Park Life Support
  • The NSW Government offers life support rebates to eligible customers to be used on the principal place of residence only. This rebate is applicable to customers residing in a caravan park on a long term basis.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will be paid into your nominated financial institution every two months
