Country Energy provides the following concessions summarised below. These are fully funded by the Victorian Government. If you would like further information please follow the link below to the Victorian Department of Human Services website.
If you have one of these Concession cards, you may be entitled to Energy Concessions.

Annual Electricity Concession
- The VIC Government offers an energy rebate to cover electricity and gas accounts. This rebate is only payable on the principal place of residence. From the 1 March 2011 a discount of 17.5% is applied to eligible electricity accounts between 1 January and 31 December each year. Previously this rebate was for the period 1 May and 31 October each year and was known as the “Winter Concession”.
- The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item. You must be listed as the current electricity account holder to be eligible.

Life Support
A daily rebate is applied to each electricity account where the account holder or a member of the household utilises certain life support machines. |
- Oxygen concentrators
- Intermittent peritoneal dialysis
- Haemodialysis machines
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Health Care Card
- Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card
- Holders of a Health Care Card for Child Disability and Foster Care issued in the name of the child are not eligible.
Note: Continuous positive airways pressure (CPAP) machine and Ventolin nebulisers are not eligible for the concession. |
Medical Cooling Concession Community Service Benefit “Medical Cooling”
- The Victorian Government offers a “Medical Cooling” rebate (formerly the Summer MS Rebate) to cover electricity and gas accounts. This rebate is only payable on the principal place of residence.
- A discount of 17.5% is applied to accounts between 1 November and 30 April each year to assist with the costs of summer electrical cooling where a household member has Multiple Sclerosis.
- The concession may be extended to other qualifying medical conditions if a person is unable to regulate their own body temperature e.g. Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Quadriplegia.
- The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item. You must be listed as the current electricity account holder to be eligible.
- As a result of the replacement of the Winter Concession with the Annual Concession, from 1 March 2011, customers who are eligible to receive both the Medical Concession and the Annual Concession will receive a 35% discount for such period as they are eligible to receive both.

Off-Peak Concession:
- Certain concession card holders may be eligible for a reduction of 13% on the off-peak tariff rate components of the electricity account. The concession is available all year for specific pension card holders.
- Note: Off-peak tariffs are mostly used for electric hot water systems and electric floor heating.

Service to Property Rebate
- This concession is available to eligible concession card holders and provides a reduction on the supply charge for concession households with low energy consumption. The Service to Property Charge concession is applied if the cost of electricity used is less than the supply (or service) charge. That charge is then reduced to the same price as the electricity usage cost.
- Concession is available all year.
