In the ACT, Country Energy provides the following concessions which are funded by the ACT Government:
Concession Type
Eligibility
Energy Concession
The energy concession covers both electricity and natural gas, is calculated on a daily basis with rates depending on the season, and appears as a separate item on your electricity bill only. The maximum annual rebate amount is $322.10.
The Utility Concession provides an additional $84.05 rebate to eligible concession card holders to minimise the cost of living. The rebate is added to the existing Energy Concession to offset the rise in basic utility costs, including water bills.
Rebates are available on the principal place of residence only and the account must be in the cardholder’s name.
To apply simply call 13 23 56.
Holders of the following cards are eligible for the rebate: Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card (PCC), Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card (HCC) and Veteran’s Affairs Pensioner Concession Card. For Health Care Card holders a new application needs to be made each time a new card is issued.
Please note: the Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card is not an eligible card under the scheme.
Life Support Rebate
If you use electrically-operated life support equipment as prescribed by an ACT medical practitioner necessary in the treatment of a life-threatening condition, you will be entitled to a rebate on your electricity account.
The life support rebate is calculated at 0.3258 cents per day with a maximum of $121.87 per annum.
Only one rebate per account is applicable. The account does not have to be in the name of the applicant. The rebate will apply for the principal or sole place of residence of the person using the life support equipment.
The life support equipment must be prescribed by an ACT medical practitioner for the treatment of a life-threatening condition.
The property relating to the account has to be the sole or principal place of residence of the applicant.
The applicant must provide us with a current letter of authority signed by the applicant's ACT medical practitioner or an authorised officer of the ACT Department of Health, specifying the type of equipment and the amount of time in use.
