Effective 1 March 2011, Origin purchased Country Energy's electricity and gas retailing business. Origin is now the new electricity retailer for most of Country Energy's electricity and some gas customers. Origin and Country Energy have been working together to integrate the businesses so that the transition from Country Energy to Origin happens smoothly and without any inconvenience to customers.

I’m a Country Energy electricity customer, how will this change affect me?
Your electricity supply will not be affected in any way and you do not need to do anything. Your prices will not change on 1 March 2011, and the convenient payment options you currently enjoy will go unchanged.
I’m a Country Energy natural gas customer, how will this change affect me?
If you live in NSW or the ACT, your natural gas account will remain with Country Energy until on or about 1 October 2014, at which point Origin will become your gas retailer. Until then, Origin will support Country Energy as they continue to provide gas to your property.

Who will now own and operate the Country Energy electricity distribution network?
The poles and wires in NSW that supply electricity to properties (the distribution network) will continue to be owned and operated by the current service provider which remains owned by the NSW State Government.
