aerial patrols

why we do it?

Aerial patrols are an important part of our annual maintenance program to provide a safe and reliable power supply.

Our annual aerial inspection program is used to assess the condition of powerlines, enabling us to identify any faults before they become an issue.

Aerial inspections are perfect for patrolling and inspecting overhead powerlines because they are fast and effective and not dependent on ground conditions or access.

Primarily, our people are looking for trees close to powerlines and other potential hazards or defects.

how we do it?

We carry out inspections using a purpose-built aircraft to minimise the noise and impact on customers.

Residents have no trouble identifying the Country Energy aircraft. Even though we use a single-engined aircraft, the front half looks like a helicopter.

All aircraft are fitted with special, high-resolution digital cameras, GPS equipment and computers which improve visability, allowing our team to get a better snapshot of the network.

Aircraft involved are easily identifiable by the Country Energy logo.
