why green power?

In Australia today most of our electricity comes from coal-fired power stations. Producing electricity in this way has two main disadvantages:

Renewable resources are the key 1. Non-renewable fuel sources, like coal and other fossil fuels, will eventually run out. Mankind will have no choice but to use alternative fuels to generate electricity.

2. Greenhouse gases are released into the atmosphere when fossil fuels burn. These gases are the principal causes of global warming and depletion of the earth's ozone layer.

So the simple answer to the question "Why green power?" is "To develop and use sustainable and environmentally friendly sources of electricity."
