having problems with PDF downloads?
Our web server is configured to serve Adobe Acrobat PDF files to browsers
a page at a time. This saves you having to wait for a large file to be downloaded entirely before you can read the first page.
For page at a time serving to work properly, Acrobat Reader needs to be configured correctly on your computer, as follows:
Acrobat 5.x
- Open Acrobat and click Edit/Preferences/General/Accessibility and...
- Tick the Deliver data in pages when document exceeds box...
- Enter a number of pages.
NOTE: If documents contains few pages, but they are graphic heavy, you could still experience download delays. We recommend you enter 1-3 in the pages box.
- Click Options in the preferences menu (or click Edit/Preferences/General/Options)
- Tick all of the Web Browser Options
Acrobat 4.x
Open Acrobat and click File/Preferences/General/Accessibility and ensure that the following two options are ticked:
- Allow background downloading
- Web browser integration
how do I get the Acrobat Reader?
Acrobat (PDF) format is an almost universal web publishing format, used by thousands of commercial websites.
The Acrobat Reader software is required to read PDF files. It's a free product provided by Adobe Software. Please go to the Adobe website to download it. |

You'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software to read most of the downloadable files on this site.

why do I just get a blank window when trying to download a PDF?
Sometimes, you may see only a blank space (within our web page) containing an Adobe icon and menu bar.
If this happens, check the status area at the bottom of the screen. It should tell you that it is downloading the file and what percentage is complete (there may be a delay before the first page is downloaded if that page is graphic rich). If the status bar doesn't indicate any activity your Browser and/or Acrobat reader software may not be configured properly.
it just won't work in my browser. Is there another way?
If unable to view a PDF file in your browser, you can download it to your computer and read it offline.
Note: You still need to have the Acrobat Reader software installed on your computer.

INSTRUCTIONS for Internet Explorer users

why am I getting a corrupt or damaged file message?
You may find that the download commences and then fails.
Possible causes:
- A damaged or superceded version of the file is being stored in *your computer's, your organisation's, or your ISP's cache (proxy) system;
- Problems with the browser version you are using
- A slow internet connection. This can cause time outs - if the file is large - and your browser may give up trying to download it.
These things are beyond Country Energy's control. Our downloads have been tested on a standard (56k) modem connection using Version 4 (or better) Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers.
*Try reloading the page by holding the shift key down and pressing the RELOAD button on your browser. This may fix the problem unless the caching bottleneck is between your computer and our server (eg. at your ISP).
