what is countrygreen®?
countrygreen® is Country Energy’s range of GreenPower products. These products provide you with a choice of options to suit your needs and your budget.
You can choose from 100%, 50%, 20%down to 10% accredited products, allowing you to do a little, or a lot to help secure the environment.
why should I switch to GreenPower anyway?
It is estimated that if we continue to rely on traditional fossil fuel sources, the global temperature may rise by up to 6ºC by the end of the century. And it only takes a small upset in the global temperature to have big impacts on life as we know it.
According to WWF Australia, the conservation organisation, this will have a significant impact on rainforests, coral reefs, alpine regions, water levels, wildlife, farming and our health, just to mention a few. Switching to GreenPower will result in less greenhouse gases, which will help to minimise the predicted temperature increase. This is why WWF encourages you to switch to GreenPower.
how much extra do countrygreen® products cost?
You can choose from the following options, click on each to learn more:

why do I have to pay extra for GreenPower?
GreenPower costs more than electricity generated from coal-fired sources. However the more people that take-up GreenPower the greater investment will be made in renewable electricity infrastructure and generation. Over time, this may drive the costs down.

will the greenhouse gas emissions graph on my bill show zero emissions if I sign up to countrygreen®?
Depending on the product you choose and your average household electricity consumption, the greenhouse gas emission may or may not show zero greenhouse emission.

- countrygreen® foreverGREEN - 100% GreenPower
With foreverGREEN, we purchase 6,470 kWh of GreenPower on your behalf which is enough to cover an average household’s annual electricity consumption per year. If your consumption falls within 17.7 KWhs per day over the duration of your bill, the graph will show zero carbon emissions.
- countrygreen® livingGREEN
With livingGREEN, we purchase 3 235 kWh of GreenPower on your behalf which is enough to cover half of the average household's annual electricity consumption per year. The emissions graph will reduce by 8.8 KWhs per day to reflect the impact of this purchase.
- countrygreen® liteGREEN
With liteGREEN, we purchase 1,294 kWh of GreenPower on your behalf which is enough to cover 20% of the average household's annual electricity consumption per year. The emissions graph will reduce by 3.5 KWhs per day to reflect the impact of this purchase.
- countrygreen® everydayGREEN
With everydayGREEN, we purchase 647 kWh of GreenPower on your behalf which is enough to cover 10% of the average household's annual electricity consumption per year. The emissions graph will reduce by 1 .7 KWhs per day to reflect the impact of this purchase.
do I actually get GreenPower to my house?
No, there is not a direct, unbroken link between your house and, say, a wind farm. However, the GreenPower we purchase on your behalf is physically fed into the electricity grid. And that means reduced greenhouse gas emissions, which is reflected on your bill, and a healthier environment.
if I switch to countrygreen®, can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Taking up the
countrygreen® option doesn’t lock you into a fixed term contract. You can cancel and switch back to standard coal-fired electricity at any time.
what if I have a small business?
Many small businesses have already signed up to
countrygreen®. We would encourage other small businesses to follow suit.
what if our large organisation is interested?
If you work for a larger organisation that is interested in switching all or part of their energy to

do I receive any recognition for switching to countrygreen®?
Yes. You will receive a Welcome Kit and, via email, quarterly newsletters with up to date information on what’s happening in the
renewable energy industry at a global and local level.
