Tweed Heads network upgrade

Country Energy is planning a major program of work to upgrade the electricity network in the Tweed Heads area to meet the growing demand for electricity in the region and to ensure the long term quality and reliability of power supply.

The proposal aims to ensure that the electricity network is capable of meeting customer requirements for at least the next 20 years and will contribute to the region's growth.

why is the network upgrade needed?

Parts of the New South Wales Far North Coast (FNC), particularly the Tweed Heads area, have experienced continued population growth and increased demand on the electricity supply network.

Electricity demand is increasing as new residents and businesses move to the rapidly growing Tweed Heads region.

Benefits of the upgrade include:

community consultation

Country Energy recognises the importance of consulting with the community and ensuring all stakeholders have access to information about the proposed upgrade.

Consultation will be undertaken with relevant Local, State and Federal Government stakeholders and those residents and businesses that may potentially be impacted by the project. Consultation with stakeholders will occur up until 29 February 2008 prior to expected commencement of construction in March 2008.

Key stakeholders will receive a letter and more detailed information about the project by the end of January 2008. See below for details on how to have your say during the consultation process.
