The Electrical Technician position is vital to providing supply of electricity from the conductors to the customers' premises. The duties can vary from field service centre and region. People attracted to this position like to engage their mind to work with their hands. Electrical technicians are happy to be outdoors, even in varying weather conditions. If working at heights is not quite what you're looking for, this could be the position for you.

The tasks performed by Electrical Technicians include:

  • Testing and commissioning of new overhead substations (transformers).
  • Fault finding during interruptions to supply.
  • Attending to hot water/meter faults on residential, commercial or Industrial customer premises.
  • Connections and disconnections of supply.
  • Maintenance of distribution sub stations (may also include zone sub stations).
  • Installation and commissioning of regulator sites.
  • Installation and commissioning of specialised field operating equipment.
