In QLD, Country Energy provides the following concessions which are funded by the QLD Government.


Concession TypeEligibility
Pension Concession
  • The QLD Government offers a pensioner energy rebate of $118.20 (ex gst) per year to cover electricity and gas accounts. This rebate is only payable on the principal place of residence.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item. You must be listed as the current electricity account holder to be eligible.

Pensioner customers
  • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card or
  • Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or
  • Repatriation Health Card for All Conditions (Gold Card) and be in receipt of one of the following payments:
    • War widow (including Widowed mother (AMS) Pension or
    • Special Rate T.P.I. (including Blinded Disability) Pension
    or
  • Queensland Government Seniors Card AND
  • Is a registered customer of a retail entity at the premises for which the rebate is claimed and the premises is the customer's principle place of residence, and the only residence in Queensland for which the customer claims the rebate AND
  • Lives alone or shares the premises in respect of which the rebate is claimed with:
    • The customer's spouse or
    • Other persons who hold a current and valid card of the type as described above or
    • Other persons wholly dependant on the customer or
    • Other persons who receive an income support payment from Centrelink, Family Assistance Office or Department of Veterans' Affairs and who do not pay rent or
    • Other persons who live with the customer to provide care and assistance and who do not pay rent and
    • Declares that no other person(s) except casual visitors share the residence with the customer and
    • Makes the application for a rebate by submitting the relevant form
  • The rebate will only be paid to one resident of each household irrespective if more than one party is eligible for the rebate.
Community Ambulance Cover
It provides every Queensland resident with ambulance cover anywhere in Australia. The scheme is funded by a levy applied to most residential and business-related electricity accounts.
Exemptions
There may be some customers that will be exempt from this levy.

The exemptions are:
  • New exemptions
  • Multiple accounts for non-domestic premises
  • Pensioners
  • Farming sheds
  • Pumps
  • Religious bodies and other institutions
  • Government
If you think you are eligible for an exemption, you must first pay the account then lodge an exemption form. These forms can be obtained from the Queensland Ambulance Service on 1300 369 003.
 
QLD Tariff Rebate
The Queensland Tariff Rebate applies to customers connected to the Country Energy in the state of Queensland. The rebate ensures that Queensland residents are not financially disadvantaged by being connected to the NSW electricity grid.

QLD Caravan Park Rebate
A pensioner rebate of $118.20 is applicable to the electricity account of eligible customers in residential home parks and other similar multi-tenanted residential premises provided the following conditions are met:
  • The property owner or operator of the multi-tenanted residential premises must:
    • Supply electricity to each of the separately identifiable vans, flats or home units or other similar living units at the premises and
    • Charges for electricity on the basis of metered consumption and
    • Is claiming the rebate on behalf of eligible persons (pensioners) residing at the premises
    • Will fully pass on the rebate to the eligible persons by way of a reduction in charges for electricity and
    • Each separately identifiable living unit for which the rebate is claimed is occupied by persons who, if they had been supplied directly by the Electricity company, would have been eligible for the Pension Rebate and
    • The rebate is applicable only to eligible persons for the full period of each electricity account being paid and
    • A rebate application form will be completed by the multi - tenanted property owner or operator on behalf of the tenant.
    • The rebate is $9.85 (GST exclusive) per accounting month applied against the dollar and cents value of the electricity. In no instance shall the rebate be greater than the account amount.
    • An example of how the rebate will be applied is as follows: The account rendered to the customer is $110.00 ($100.00 consumption plus GST of $10.00) less the rebate of $10.84 ($9.85 plus GST of $0.99) Therefore after the rebate the account will be for $99.16.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item. You must be listed as the current electricity account holder to be eligible.
