In SA, Country Energy provides the following concessions which are funded by the SA Government:


Concession TypeEligibility
Pension Concession
  • The SA Government offers a pensioner energy rebate of $120 per year to cover electricity and gas accounts. This rebate is only payable on the principle place of residence.
  • The rebate is calculated on a daily basis and will appear on your electricity account as a separate line item. You must be listed as the current electricity account holder to be eligible.
Pensioner application forms can be acquired by phoning the Concessions Hotline on 1800 307 758 or sending an email to adelaide.concessions@dfc.sa.gov.au.
Pensioner customers
  • Centrelink Pension Card
  • Department of Veterans' Affairs Pension Card
  • Department of Veterans' Affairs Pension for War Widows or War Widowers or a Disability Pension at the "totally and permanently incapacitated" (TPI) or "extreme disablement adjustment" (EDA) rates (as shown on the Repatriation Health Card i.e. the "Gold Card").
  • New Zealand or British War widow pension
  • SA State Concession Card
  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
Criteria listing
  • The electricity account must be in the name of the customer seeking the concession;
  • The electricity account must be for the customer's principal place of residence; and
  • There is no one living with the customer who is not a spouse, partner or a dependant* who has an income of $3000 or more per year which is not a benefit or pension from Centrelink of the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
*where a dependant is defined to include:
  • The customer's spouse or partner;
  • A child under 16 years of age;
  • A child 16 -18 years of age in receipt of a Youth Allowance from Centrelink; and
  • A child 16 – 24 years of age in full time education in receipt of Youth Allowance, Austudy, or Abstudy from Centrelink.

  • The customer must have either a spouse, partner and/or children (dependant) living with the customer; and
  • There is no one living with the customer who is a spouse, partner or a dependant* who has an income of $3000 or more per year which is not a benefit or pension from Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
*where a dependant is defined to include:
  • The customer's partner or spouse;
  • A child under 16 years of age;
  • A child 16 – 18 years of age in receipt of Youth Allowance from Centrelink; and
  • A child 16 - 24 years of age in full time education in receipt of Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy and Centrelink.
Life Support
  • In SA there is no life support concession offered by Retailers. This concession is handled by some of the medical centres who will actually read the customer's meter. Any queries regarding a concession should be directed to either your medical practitioner or to the hospital that has supplied the life support machinery.
  • Customers will be supplied with a life support notification form that must be completed and returned to us with a medical certificate attached.
