Australia's largest potential energy source

What can be connected to the grid?

Any device which meets Australian official standards can be connected to the national electricity network. At present we’re mostly connecting small solar photovoltaic systems, but we’re starting to see an increase in applications to connect small wind turbines too. We also welcome a range of other renewable energy sources such as Hydro, Biomass,  and Geothermal.

If you’re interested in connecting a larger generator to the grid, please bear in mind that some areas of the network may require line upgrades or transformers to support the increased load.

How do I connect?

Before connecting any form of electricity generator to the grid, you’ll need to get approval from Country Energy (or your supplier if not in a Country Energy area).

Once approval has been granted you can arrange the installation. We’ll check the connection afterwards to make sure it complies with the approved connection agreement. When the connection procedure is complete and the meter has been changed, Country Energy will apply an export tariff to your account so that future bills will contain credits for energy returned to the grid.
